Pete Carroll Foreshadowed Seahawks Picks Hours Before NFL Draft (Videos)

Before every NFL draft, an absurd amount of time is spent trying to figure out what picks each team will make.

For Seattle Seahawks fans, that confidential information was right in front of their eyes. Well, sort of.

Hours before this year’s draft got underway, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll decided to have a little fun on Twitter by sending out a series of “draft clues” to foreshadow his team’s upcoming selections.

Carroll didn’t disappoint.

Over the next several hours, the Seattle coach tweeted seven clues, one for each of the team’s seven picks, that featured YouTube clips of popular movies and TV shows. His clue for round one, for example, was a video of Chris Farley’s classic “Van down by the river” Saturday Night Live skit.

Sure enough, the Seahawks traded “down” out of the first round, allowing the Minnesota Vikings to take quarterback Teddy Bridgewater with the 32nd overall pick.

This isn’t the first time Carroll has had some fun with draft clues. Before the 2012 draft, Carroll tweeted a clip from “The Hangover” movie in which Alan talks about his “Wolf Pack.” The Seahawks selected former NC State Wolfpack quarterback Russell Wilson in the third round.

On Monday, Jared Stanger from SB Nation’s “Field Gulls” blog went back to impressively decipher all seven of Carroll’s riddles.
