New York Rangers winger Derek Dorsett was making enemies left and right Tuesday in Montreal.

The fourth-liner’s antics started during the Canadiens’ always extravagant pregame ceremony, when he showered one of the Habs’ young flag bearers with ice shavings as he entered the bench. Mats Zuccarello luckily was there to lend the kid a hand.

Now, this might not have been intentional. It’s hard to imagine an NHL player going out of his way to mess with an 8-year-old kid, even if he is wearing a Habs sweater.

Dorsett will have a hard time explaining his way out of what took place late in the third period, though. With time winding down in what ended up being a 7-4, Eastern Conference finals-extending win for the Canadiens, Dorsett lowered his helmet and headbutted Montreal defenseman Mike Weaver as the two jostled in front of the net.

“Why’s he doing that at the end?” Weaver said after the game, via Yahoo! Sports. “He was running around with his head cut off. It’s the kind of player he is.”

Dorsett was not much of a factor in the actual game itself, finishing with a team-low 9:11 of ice time and contributing just two hits and four penalty minutes to the score sheet. He has one assist and 19 PIMs in 17 Stanley Cup playoff games this postseason.

The Rangers will have another chance to punch their ticket to the Cup Final when the series shifts back to Madison Square Garden for Game 6 on Thursday.
