Justin Abdelkader is no stranger to supplemental discipline, both in the NHL and on the international level. He could be adding to his list of punishments.

Abdelkader is playing for Team USA at the World Hockey Championship, where he was ejected from a quarterfinal game against Czech Repbublic on Thursday. The Detroit Red Wings forward was given the gate after a high, late hit on Czech (and St. Louis Blues) forward Vladimir Sobotka in the second period.

Sobotka left the game after taking the big hit, and Abdelkader was given a five-minute major in addition to the ejection.

Abdelkader already has been suspended in the tournament, as he was handed a one-game ban for a knee-to-knee hit on Kazakhstan’s Konstantin Pushkaryov. Abdelkader also was suspended for two games during the 2013 NHL season after a hit on Anaheim’s Toni Lydman.
