The Indiana Pacers were eliminated in the Eastern Conference finals for the second straight year by the Miami Heat on Friday night, but those disappointing finishes will not cost head coach Frank Vogel his job.

Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski reports, citing sources, that Indiana likely will bring Vogel back for at least another season.

Despite having the homecourt advantage and winning Game 1 of their series against the Heat, the Pacers were unable to make their first NBA Finals appearance since 2000. Indiana lost four of the final five games, culminated by a 25-point loss in Game 6.

Vogel did not have a good series. He was unable to design offensive schemes to break down the athletic Miami defense, and he didn’t do enough to get the most production from his star players, specifically All-Star center Roy Hibbert.

The 40-year-old coach is 167-100 since taking over the job on an interim basis during the 2011-12 season. Indiana finished with the best record in the East during the regular season for the first time since 2003-04.
