Marcus SmartRajon Rondo is a member of the Boston Celtics — for now — but that isn’t keeping the team from exploring all of its options in the 2014 NBA draft.

Oklahoma State point guard Marcus Smart has a workout scheduled with the Celtics, ESPN’s Jeff Goodman reported Friday. The Celtics have the No. 6 pick in the June 26 draft, and Smart generally is projected to go somewhere between No. 5 and No. 10.

Smart is one of the most competitive and strongest players, pound-for-pound, in the draft. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound sophomore averaged 18 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game for the Cowboys this season. He surprised most observers by pulling out of the 2013 draft and going back to school, despite widespread speculation that he would have been a top-three pick.

Drafting Smart would free up the Celtics to move Rondo, Goodman also reported. Smart was among the players discussed as an option for Boston at No. 6 in this week’s NESN.com Celtics podcast.
