Alberto Moreno and Ivan RakiticLiverpool wants Alberto Moreno to join Brendan Rodgers’ red revolution.

On Wednesday, Liverpool made a £16.2 million ($27.1 million/€20 million) transfer bid to Spanish club Sevilla FC for Moreno, according to Marca, the Liverpool Echo and the Telegraph.

The 21-year-old fullback is a rising star in Spanish soccer, and Liverpool hopes UEFA Champions League soccer will help entice him to Anfield.

Moreno made 43 appearances (in all competitions) for Sevilla in 2013-14, helping the club finish fifth in La Liga (Spain’s first division) and win the UEFA Europa League. Moreno earned him a call-up to Spain’s provisional squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Moreno would compete with Jose Enrique and Jon Flanagan for playing time at left fullback for Liverpool. The Sevilla academy graduate also can play left midfielder.

The reports also indicate that Liverpool has offered Suso as a makeweight in the deal, although it isn’t yet clear if the 20-year-old winger would join Sevilla on loan or on a permanent transfer.

Should Sevilla balk at Liverpool’s offer, the Reds reportedly will consider Granada’s Guilherme Siqueira and Chelsea’s Ryan Bertrand as alternatives.
