Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby often gets a hard time from hockey fans, but on Friday, he did something truly admirable.

New York Rangers forward Martin St. Louis found out after his team landed in Pittsburgh on Thursday for Game 5 of their Stanley Cup playoff series against the Penguins that his mother had passed away at age 63. St. Louis traveled home to Montreal to be with his family, but he decided to head back to Pittsburgh and suit up for the game Friday.

Crosby found St. Louis, his Team Canada teammate in this year’s Olympics, warming up on an exercise bike before the game and had a short conversation with him, which happened to be caught on camera.
