The Stanley CupĀ is known for its extensive travel, and on Saturday, Lord Stanley made the trip to Churchill Downs with Keeper of the Cup Philip Pritchard for the 2014 Kentucky Derby.

Pritchard tweeted out a few photos of the Cup, including one with Beverly, Mass.-based horse Wicked Strong (hopefully foreshadowing things to come) and another with some ’90s boy band members.

As For The Win also pointed out, the Stanley Cup has some history at the Derby. In 1994, when the New York Rangers won, the Cup made a trip to Churchill Downs with then-Ranger Eddie Olczyk. Olczyk took a photo with 1994 Derby winner Go for Gin appearing to eat out of the Cup.

This was apparently bad luck for both horse and hockey team, as Go for Gin finished second in the Belmont Stakes, and the Rangers haven’t won a Stanley Cup since.

Check out Pritchard’s photos below.
