The Texas Rangers foul ball kid became everybody’s favorite littleĀ Casanova over the weekend, and his explanation for his smooth move is almostĀ as slick as he is.

Ten-year-old Austin Chaney charmed the Internet when he caught a foul ball at Saturday night’s Rangers-Toronto Blue Jays game and slyly offered it to a young lady sitting behind him. But upon closer inspection, it was revealed that Chaney switched the ball with another he already had.

It looked like the smooth operator was pulling the ol’ switcheroo on his new lady friend, but Chaney told WFAA-TV in Dallas that his prime seats near the field meant the third base coach had been tossingĀ balls to him all game.

“I was told if I got another ball, I should give it to someone else, so I turned around,” he said. “… I thought I was going to give it to someone deep down there, and I saw her right in front of me and I gave it to her.”

The video of the adorable act quickly went viral, andĀ even at his own baseball game Sunday, he wasn’t safe from all of the extra attention.

“The whole team was messing with me, like ‘What’s up, Hollywood?’ ” he said.

The kid certainly convincedĀ thousandsĀ that he’s got game, butĀ his mom was quick to downplay her son’s suave reputation.

“If they only knew him!” said his mom, Jenni Chaney. “He trips over the wind blowing!”
