Oscar Taveras was ranked in the top three of just about every Major League Baseball prospect rankings entering the 2014 season, and he made his St. Louis Cardinals debut Saturday afternoon against the San Francisco Giants at Busch Stadium.

Taveras, who’s replacing the injured Matt Adams in right field, flied out to left field in his first at-bat, but he brought the crowd to its feet in his second plate appearance with a solo home run.

Taveras has superstar potential and could play an important role for a Cardinals team already loaded with talented young players.
