It’s not a secret that pro athletes like to play their sport’s respective video games as themselves. It’s probably fun to see yourself at the top of your game, even if it isn’t real.
But New York Yankees prospect Ty Hensley got a sad reminder of real life while playing “MLB 14 The Show.”
Hensley, a 20-year-old pitcher who was a first-round draft pick in 2012, hasn’t played real baseball since the 2012 season when he required surgery for a right hip impingement. Being out of baseball for so long, it’s no wonder he wanted to play “The Show” as himself.
However, the video game — which was released Tuesday and is supposed to be the most life-like version of the game — wanted to keep him out.
