Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig is one of those players who comes around every so often with the ability to do unbelievable things on the baseball field.

He was at it again Thursday night, when he made arguably the best catch of Major League Baseball’s young season.

New York Mets infielder Wilmer Flores drove a second-inning Zack Greinke offering deep into the right-center field gap at Citi Field. That’s where Puig took off sprinting after the ball, which looked destined to fall into the gap.

Puig was having none of that. He chased it down and made an incredible diving catch, picking the ball right above the turf right in front of the warning track.

Had Puig not tumbled after making the grab, he would have been able to double up the runner on first base, but his throw was just late. Regardless, Puig’s web gem earned him a standing ovation from Mets fans.

Then again, it’s not like Mets fans have had a lot to cheer about lately.
