It took more than an hour and a half, but Lionel Messi got the job done.

Just four minutes separated Iran from an improbable draw against Argentina in a Group F match at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Iran’s defense held Argentina off the board all afternoon Saturday, but when Messi touched the ball in the 91st minute, he broke Iranian hearts.

Messi corralled a pass from the top right of the goal box, moved to his left and then curled his shot just out of the reach of Iranian goalkeeper Alireza Haghighi for the goal. It was a true beauty for the game-winner.

The goal not only propelled Argentina to a 1-0 victory, it also advanced the team to the knockout stage. Iran will face Bosnia-Herzegovina on Wednesday to decide its fate.
