Apparently Adam Wainwright is a pretty big soccer fan.

The 32-year-old St. Louis Cardinals ace returned to the hill Saturday after missing one start with an elbow injury and allowed just one run over eight innings. What he had reporters talking about on Sunday morning, however, was his creative way of showing his support for Team USA in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

When you’re 10-3 with a 2.08 ERA on the season, you can afford to do light-hearted things such as this.

The Cardinals play host to the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday at 2:15 p.m. ET, so Wainwright is probably hoping the game ends before the United States takes on Portugal at 6 p.m. so he can catch all the action.
