Behind every great team is a great-looking uniform.

A flashy new uniform can often be a welcome addition to a soccer club, so manager Frank de Boer and several players from the Dutch club AFC Ajax were understandably excited when they met with an “adidas executive” to preview some new threads.

The meeting did not go as they had planned.

In a hilarious and elaborately-planned prank, adidas hired an actor to reveal some terribly ugly jerseys to de Boer and his players and gauge their reaction.

De Boer and the unsuspecting Ajax players could hardly contain their disgust as they looked at new jerseys covered in giant tulips, tie-dye and even a massive image of a lion’s head.

The sports apparel company finally revealed the prank after letting the players sweat for several minutes, but if Ajax ever wants to mix it up with some unique alternate shirts, they know where to turn.
