Hours before the 2014 NHL draft started Friday, the Anaheim Ducks made moves on the trade market and the uniform front.
No, the Ducks’ new jerseys will not use the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim logo, but they will have a slightly new look for the upcoming season.
The team decided to dump its uniforms that spelled out “Anaheim Ducks” on the crest in favor of a large webbed “D” on the front. The logo has been used on the Ducks’ alternate third jersey and now will be featured on both the primary home and away uniforms.

The home uniforms almost are an exact copy of the Ducks’ third jersey, except and orange, not gold, surrounds the white numbers on the sleeve and ties were added to the collar. The uniform also bears a “Wild Wing” patch from the Mighty Ducks days on the shoulder.
Black will be featured on the shoulders of the white road jerseys for the first time in franchise history.
The switch might be best for the Ducks. The last time they changed uniforms — during the 2006-07 season — they won the Stanley Cup.
