Andre Schurrle’s Beautiful Back-Heel Goal Gives Germany The Lead (GIF)

Germany had difficulty putting the ball in the back of the net Monday at the 2014 FIFA World Cup until Andre Schurrle struck in extra time.

When Thomas Muller sent a pass toward the middle, Schurrle slightly overran the ball. So what did he do? He extended his left foot backwards and made sure the ball deflected off his heel and into the Algeria net.

You can’t recreate goals like that during practice. That’s just sheer talent.

Germany went on to win the Round of 16 game 2-1 and will play France in the quarterfinals in Brazil.
