Artist Transforms Herself Into World Cup Trophy Using Paint (Photo)

The World Cup Trophy is unlike any of the trophies in American sports. The surface isn’t smooth like the NFL’s Lombardi Trophy or the NBA’s Larry O’Brien Trophy, and there aren’t any engravings on it like the NHL’s Stanley Cup.

It does, however, have a complex and rugged-looking exterior that might be difficult to replicate if an artist attempted to do so.

London artist Emma Allen took a crack at the challenging task of not just making a trophy replica, but turning herself into one. She succeeded wonderfully.

Allen turned her face and body into a copy of the world’s most coveted trophy using a swimming cap to make her head look like the globe, then painting her hands and face with different shades of gold to emulate the surface of the trophy.

She then took one of the coolest selfies you will ever see (sorry, Ellen DeGeneres) and the photo went viral quickly.

It’s pretty cool how sports can sometimes bring out the best in art.
