Brandon Phillips loves to interact with fans– even hecklers, apparently.

During Wednesday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park, Phillips’ Cincinnati Reds put on a clinic against the hometown team. Throughout the game, one fan heckled Cincinnati All-Star first baseman Joey Votto, but after a rain delay that made most of the crowd leave the ballpark, the fan turned his attention to Mr. Phillips.

On Reddit user posted a short version of the events, saying the heckler was his brother. At one point during the game, the heckler yelled, “Hey everybody, look how slow Phillips is!” Phillips even laughed at what the fan had to say. But that’s not where this ends.

After the game was over, Phillips came over to the rowdy fan and handed him a ball with a signed note on it.

If that wasn’t good enough, Phillips even posed for a picture with the Pirates fan.

The Reds won the game 11-4, and Phillips made a new friend. Win-win.

Hat tip to Deadspin for the story.
