Brazil may be the host nation at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, but its team isn’t getting any hometown calls.

The Brazilians got all they could handle from Chile in their knockout round matchup. They ended over 120 minutes of regulation and an overtime period tied at 1-1.

Ten minutes into the second half, however, Brazilian forward Hulk appeared to prevent any chance of overtime when he corralled a long pass and put it into the net with a brilliant left-footed finish. The goal was disallowed, however, when the referee called Hulk for a controversial handball.

Hulk tried to argue that the ball hit him in the arm and was given a yellow card as a result.

Fortunately for the stocky forward, his costly handball didn’t diminish the host nation’s hopes of winning it all. Brazil managed to escape with the win after Chile’s Mauricio Pinilla rung his shot off the crossbar at the end of a gripping penalty kick session, which Brazil won 3-2.
