Gary Striewski Named Primary Red Sox Sideline Reporter

gary striewskiNESN, New England’s most watched sports network, announced Friday that Gary Striewski has been named NESN’s primary Red Sox sideline reporter. In this role, Striewski’s game-day duties will include interviewing players and coaches, delivering in-game reports, plus doing live reports and features for NESN’s pre- and postgame shows, NESN Live and NESN Sports Today.

Striewski originally joined NESN in July of last year and has been frequently working as a Red Sox sideline reporter including spring training and in-season. He will also continue as an anchor/reporter on NESN Sports Today plus serve as primary host of NESN Clubhouse, the network’s new, commercial-free Red Sox pre-game show for kids.

“We conducted an extensive, national search, reviewing over 200 candidates and determined Gary was the best person to serve as our primary Red Sox reporter,” said Joseph Maar, NESN’s vice president of programming & production, executive producer. “Gary’s terrific relationship skills, engaging personality and unbridled enthusiasm make him the right fit for this important position and to help grow our youth audience in Red Sox baseball.”

I’m looking forward to the responsibility and opportunity to be the bridge that connects Red Sox Nation with their team.”

Prior to joining NESN, Striewski worked at NBC affiliate KPRC Channel 2 in Houston where he was a sports anchor and reporter covering their pro teams, the Astros, Texans and Rockets, along with major college teams in the market. The Denver native began his career as a sports reporter and anchor at the CBS affiliates in Cheyenne, Wyo., and Fort Collins, Colo.
