Cristiano RonaldoCristiano Ronaldo’s injury woes and a world-famous witch doctor. Now you’ve heard it all.

Ghana’s “most influential witch doctor” claims that he placed a spell on the Portugal star and is the reason Ronaldo is suffering from lingering knee issues that might keep him out of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Ronaldo is nursing a “muscle injury on the back of his left thigh as well as left-leg patellar tendinosis,” according to the Portuguese Football Association.

Nana Kwaku Bonsam, a witch doctor whose name translates to “The Devil of Wednesday,” claims he inflicted the injury on Ronaldo in order to see Ghana make it out of Group G.

“I know what Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury is about, I’m working on him. I am very serious about it,” Bonsam told a local Kumasi radio station Angel FM. “I said it four months ago that I will work on Cristiano Ronaldo seriously and rule him out of the World Cup or at least prevent him from playing against Ghana, and the best thing I can do is to keep him out through injury.

“This injury can never be cured by any medic, they can never see what is causing the injury because it is spiritual. Today, it is his knee, tomorrow it is his thigh, next day it is something else.”

Ronaldo and Portugal will open World Cup play June 16 against Germany.
