Jason Terry Thinks San Antonio Air Conditioning Outage Could Be ‘Conspiracy’

Jason TerryIt seems as though former Boston Celtics shooting guard Jason Terry fancies himself as somewhat of a conspiracy theorist.

Having played many games in San Antonio against the Spurs in his 15-year career, he’s not buying that the air conditioning outage at the AT&T Center during Game 1 of the NBA Finals was just an electrical malfunction.

Terry, now a Sacramento King, appeared on a ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM on Friday and talked about how visiting teams have had less-than-pleasant experiences in San Antonio before.

“(Spurs coach Gregg Popovich) has done that so many times,” Terry said, per For The Win. “I don’t know if it’s a conspiracy, but I’m telling you, going into San Antonio is a tough place to play…. I can remember very well one time where it was cold showers, there were about a thousand flies in the locker room. This year, there was a snake in the locker room. So, they’re going to pull out all the stops to get into your head.”

“When you go to San Antonio, expect something like that. And Miami fell victim to it.”

The examples Terry used can be very easily explained. For one, Texas has tons of snakes, so it’s not hard to believe that one could find its way into the locker room. Also, some teams just have sub-par facilities. That would be like saying the Oakland A’s purposely flood their dugouts with raw sewage every once in a while.

It seems unlikely that the Spurs, who were the best team in the league for most of the season, would intentionally put their team and fans in danger by making their arena about 90 degrees just to win.

Yes, the heat cause Heat star LeBron James to cramp up, but he only missed the final four minutes — when the Spurs were up by two points anyway.
