Kings’ Drew Doughty Goes Between The Legs For Filthy Goal (Video)

Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty put on an offensive-zone show Wednesday night.

Doughty coughed up a first-period giveaway that allowed the New York Rangers to take an early lead in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final, but he atoned for his mistake a period later.

After receiving a pass from Justin Williams, the blueliner undressed Derek Dorsett with a between-the-legs deke before firing a point-blank shot past Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist for one of the prettiest goals of the playoffs.

The common sentiment seems to be that Doughty, whose 17 playoff points (five goals, 12 assists) lead all defensemen, is the front-runner to win the Conn Smythe Trophy if the Kings can take home the Stanley Cup. With highlights like that, it’s easy to see why.

Williams scored in overtime to give L.A. a 3-2 win and a 1-0 series lead.
