MLB: Boston Red Sox at Cleveland IndiansAs somewhat expected, it didn’t take long for former Boston Red Sox outfielder Grady Sizemore, whom the team released Wednesday, to be scooped up by another team.

The Philadelphia Phillies announced Tuesday that they signed the three-time All-Star to a minor league contract. Sizemore will report to the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs, where he’ll don their bacon-inspired uniform Thursday.

Sizemore had a promising start with the Red Sox, putting up solid numbers during spring training after being out of baseball for two full seasons due to injury. However, his batting average sat at .216 by the time he was released by the Sox.
