Texas Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus had to get a little inventive — and a lot acrobatic — when he turned a double play on Friday night.
During the top of the eighth inning, Cleveland Indians third baseman Mike Aviles hit a routine grounder to Andrus, but with designated hitter Carlos Santana running on the pitch, the shortstop had to make a play that was anything but routine to turn two.
Andrus just barely beat him to the bag, but Santana certainly didn’t make life easy on him. Santana came in hot with a takeout slide, and although he did manage to knock Andrus off balance, the shortstop miraculously managed to get the throw off to first for the second out by completing a full 360 spin before falling to the dirt.
