Red Sox’s Pitching Surplus Can Help Them Land Much-Needed Bat (Video)

The Boston Red Sox have an asset that most teams really need — pitching.

With Clay Buchholz returning from the disabled list soon and Rubby De La Rosa and Brandon Workman establishing themselves as starters in the major leagues, the Red Sox all of a sudden have a lot of solid pitching that they can trade for an outfield bat.

Before Sunday afternoon’s game, the Red Sox had scored just 15 runs in an eight-game span. An extra bat in the lineup could give the Red Sox the boost they need to make a late playoff run.

Nick Cafardo of The Boston Globe joined “Red Sox First Pitch” on Monday night and discussed some of the players the Red Sox might target as the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline nears.
