NBA: Playoffs-Toronto Raptors at Brooklyn NetsBrooklyn Nets big man Kevin Garnett wants to return for his 20th NBA season.

A league source told ESPN that the former Boston Celtic has indicated he will begin preparing for at least one more season. Nets general manager Billy King told ESPN on Wednesday that the team has been operating as though Garnett will return. King also said he believes Garnett still will be able to play at a high level.

If Garnett does in fact play for another season, the 38-year-old’s playing time likely will be heavily monitored, as it was last season. Garnett played in 54 games, averaging 6.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 20.5 minutes. He is set to make $12 million in 2014.

Paul Pierce, another former Celtic on the Nets’ roster, is an unrestricted free agent. There’s no word yet on if Pierce will return.
