The San Francisco 49ers have locked up Colin Kaepernick until 2020.
The Niners announced Wednesday that they had signed the quarterback to a six-year contract extension, which multiple outlets reported is worth over $100 million, with an NFL-record $61 million guaranteed.

Kaepernick, who was entering the final year of his rookie contract, was set to make under $1 million in base salary this year.
“Colin’s hard work and dedication have played an integral role in the recent success of the 49ers organization,” general manager Trent Baalke said in a statement issued by the team. “His work ethic, leadership and on-field production have positively influenced our team, and we look forward to his continued growth in all areas.”
The 26-year-old has passed for 5,046 yards and 31 touchdowns over three seasons as the 49ers’ starting quarterback, while adding 937 yards and nine scores on the ground.
Kaepernick led San Francisco to three consecutive NFC championship games and also Super Bowl XLVII, which the 49ers lost 34-31 to the Baltimore Ravens.
