The Los Angeles Kings defeated the New York Rangers 5-4 in double overtime to take a 2-0 series lead in the 2014 Stanley Cup Final on Saturday night.
But if you ask New York Rangers fans, they probably will tell you that the game shouldn’t have gone to overtime.
With the Rangers leading 4-2 early in the third period, Kings winger Dwight King went into the crease as Willie Mitchell was blasting a slap shot from the point. The puck deflected off King and into the net, but he didn’t give New York goaltender Henrik Lundqvist much of a chance to make a blocker save.

Lundqvist was clearly upset and voiced his displeasure to the referees, but the call on the ice of a good goal stood.

The Kings tied the game about six minutes later when Marian Gaborik scored his playoff-leading 13th goal.
You can bet this goal will be talked about a lot during the build up to Monday night’s Game 3 at Madison Square Garden.
