The Los Angeles Kings are hockey royalty once again.
For the second time in three years, the Kings are Stanley Cup champions after defeating the New York Rangers 3-2 in double overtime at the Staples Center.
After Alec Martinez iced it with his game-winning goal in extra time, the red carpet was rolled out for NHL commissioner Gary Bettman to present the best trophy in sports to Kings captain Dustin Brown.

In a classy move, Brown chose to hand the Cup off next to 34-year-old defenseman Robyn Regehr, who missed most of the playoffs due to injury but finally captured his first championship after 14 seasons in the NHL.

It was also an emotional night for former Ranger Marian Gaborik, who got the Cup next from Regehr after winning his first Stanley Cup at the age of 32.
The jubilation didn’t stop there, as Los Angeles posed for the traditional team picture and even managed to evoke a smile from head coach Darryl Sutter.

Darryl wasn’t the only happy Sutter in the house, as his son Chris was on hand for the historic victory and scored himself an awesome post-game interview with Kings forward Anze Kopitar.

All in all, it was a night of celebration and joy in Los Angeles.
