Down a goal in the second half of its 2014 FIFA World Cup match with Italy, England needed something to bounce its way.
England could not have been given a much better opportunity when forward Wayne Rooney earned a corner kick late in the game. What happened, however, was far from what his team could have hoped for.
Instead of the ball going toward the goal box, Rooney chipped it well behind the goal and nearly into the stands. The contest did not get any better for England, as Italy prevailed 2-1.
