1403120491_clintWhen U.S. men’s soccer captain Clint Dempsey isn’t scoring goals just 34 seconds into his team’s World Cup opener against Ghana, he’s spitting rhymes and making rap albums.

No, really.

Dempsey, who raps under the name of “Deuce,” released the first single from his new rap album, “The Redux,” on Wednesday. The exclusive track, which can be found on the Wall Street Journal’s site, is titled “It’s Poppin.” Dempsey, or rather Deuce, raps about scoring “G’s” on the field, being “Captain America” and his humble upbringing in Texas.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the 31-year-old spent two weeks in Los Angeles during the offseason to record the album with his friend, rapper XO. The 13-track album will be released in full sometime after the World Cup ends, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the East Texas Food Bank.

This isn’t Demspey’s first foray music, either, as Major League Soccer’s highest-paid player released a track for Nike back in 2006 called “Don’t Tread.”

Thankfully, the long wait is over for Dempsey’s biggest music fans.
