Some things are much bigger than baseball rivalries, and the New York Yankees proved that with a touching gesture Friday night.

The Boston Red Sox are mourning the loss of Jack Lanzillotti, their manager of productions/game operations, who died tragically Saturday along with his girlfriend Jessica Campbell after the two were struck by a car while walking through Boston’s Back Bay.

The Yankees showed solidarity with the Sox by honoring Lanzillotti with a moment of silence before the start of Friday’s game between the two teams.
