Toronto Blue Jays infielder Munenori Kawasaki is quite the character.

Kawasaki spent 11 seasons in Japan before coming to play in North America in 2012, and he has been solid for the Jays this season, batting .272 in 33 games. But he has provided even more entertainment off the field.

During Tuesday’s game against the Boston Red Sox, slugger David Ortiz gave Kawasaki a bear hug as he returned to third base on a Shane Victorino single in the fourth inning.

Naturally, reporters wanted to know a little more about the unsolicited affection Kawasaki received from Big Papi, and Muni really delivered on his answer.

He started off the interview with Sportsnet describing the hug with a catchy little chant of “He’s big. Kawa small,” then went on to talk about how much he loves both Ortiz and Michael Jordan. He even calls himself “Little Papi.”

With all of Kawasaki’s personality, it’s really no wonder that Ortiz couldn’t resist giving him a hug.
