Brad Marchand’s style of play as an agitator and someone who constantly gets under the opponent’s skin makes him difficult to play against.

The Boston Bruins winger fielded some questions Tuesday night at the 2014 Phoenix House Champs for Change dinner in his home province of Nova Scotia, and one guest asked him which NHL players irritate him the most.

Unsurprisingly, he picked a Montreal Canadien.

“There are a few guys who really irritate me … Tomas Plekanec from Montreal, I hate him,” Marchand said with a smile. “Oh, I can’t stand him. No, I probably shouldn’t say that. I dislike him very much.

“Someone’s going to call and get mad at me for saying that tomorrow.”

Marchand said all of this with a smile and a laugh, but we wouldn’t be surprised if he was being 100 percent truthful. Marchand has been a focal point of the Bruins-Canadiens rivalry for the last five seasons and seems to be in the middle of most of the after-the-whistle scrums between the teams.

Marchand’s dislike for Plekanec might be a common feeling around the league. After all, few players dive and embellish more than the Montreal center.
