New Jersey rocker Jon Bon Jovi and his Toronto ownership group continuously have promised that if they purchase the Buffalo Bills, the team will stay in western New York.
But some Buffalo fans aren’t buying it after hearing that the prospective ownership group reportedly was scouting possible stadium sites in Ontario.
In fact, Yahoo! Sports reports that over 200 Buffalo restaurants, bars, gentleman’s clubs and even radio stations have banned Bon Jovi’s music fearing that the rock star will break his promise and move the team.
The rally was started by Charles Pellien, a 49-year-old truck driver who screams “blue-collar Buffalo.”
The Bon Jovi ban is spreading so rapidly in Buffalo that a live cover band got booed for singing “Livin’ On A Prayer.”
“It’s a big threat,” Pellien told Yahoo! Sports. “He’s aligned with guys from Toronto. They’ve got more money than everybody else. We don’t believe they will keep the Bills in Buffalo. Why would they?”
New York Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy has joined in on the anti-Bon Jovi fun by recently tweeting, “Note to JBJ: You will lose fans/all of WNY- forever. Not worth it.”
It’s clear that Bon Jovi gives football a bad name in Buffalo.
