The Chicago Cubs’ farm system is so promising that even the fake prospects are garnering praise from the most loyal of fans.

With third baseman Kris Bryant hitting .343 and recording 33 home runs to go along with 84 RBIs while splitting time between Double-A and Triple-A this season, and 21-year-old Javier Baez finding his groove with the Iowa Cubs to the tune of 16 home runs and 61 RBIs, the future for the Cubs is looking bright.

The addition of top prospect Addison Russell, whom the Cubs acquired in a blockbuster trade from the Oakland Athletics on the Fourth of July, only gave Chicago more reason for optimism in the years to come. But what about guys like Mark Faea, a first-rounder who is friends with Mark Prior and was a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award in college? Or Doug Yelouf, a pitcher who doesn’t know Jay Cutler personally but is from the same hometown as the Chicago Bears quarterback?

Oh, right, they don’t exist. But don’t tell that to these Cubs diehards. Redeye Chicago hit the streets of Wrigleyville to ask fans about some of the team’s most exciting prospects, who are 100 percent made up.

There’s always next year, Cubs fans.
