Chris Paul and Doc Rivers are “both talking about” sitting out the coming NBA season if Donald Sterling remains the owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, Paul told ESPN.com. Paul called Sterling’s continued ownership of the team “unacceptable” and said “something needs to happen soon.”

Of course, the legal process doesn’t really care if Sterling’s ownership is inconvenient to Paul’s ability to play basketball for a living. The courts currently are sorting out if Sterling’s wife, Shelly, can sell the franchise to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer for a reported $2 billion.

Training camp opens in a little more than two months, and it is unclear if the Clippers suit will be decided by then. Whether Sterling or Ballmer is the owner at that time, however, expect to see Paul in uniform and Rivers on the sideline, as usual.
