In the first game of his sophomore campaign, Ballard tore his ACL and was forced to miss the entire 2013 season. And just two days after reporting to training camp this year and saying he passed his physical, it appears the worst-case scenario again has happened for the 24-year-old.

Ballard likely will miss the entire 2014 season after tearing his left Achilles in training camp Friday, according to The Indianapolis Star. He will undergo an MRI tomorrow to confirm the injury.

“When you see someone like Vick Ballard go down, who’s worked so hard to get back, it’s tough,” Colts owner Jim Irsay told The Star. “He’s still young and has a full career ahead of him.”

Ballard was expected to share carries with Trent Richardson and Ahmad Bradshaw in the Colts’ backfield this season.
