After seeing John Baker’s celebration, it’s safe to say that walks aren’t celebrated nearly enough in the sport of baseball.

Tensions ran high during Thursday afternoon’s Chicago Cubs-Cincinnati Reds matchup after Reds closer Arnoldis Chapman tossed consecutive pitches near the head of Nate Schierholtz, culminating in a benches-clearing incident in the ninth inning of a tied ballgame.

Once the fireworks died down, though, Baker worked a two-out walk off Chapman and, boy, was he pumped.

The catcher’s walk came right after Chapman buzzed Schierholtz, leading Baker to celebrate like he had just won the game for his team. Baker gave an emphatic fist pump that he combined with a bat flip before pointing to the sky and casually trotting to first base.

The Cubs went on to win 6-4 in 12 innings, so we can only imagine the celebration that Baker busted out for that happy occassion.
