A few days after making comments about not being happy in his limited role, Boston Red Sox pitcher Felix Doubront didn’t do himself any favors after a tough relief outing in a 14-1 blowout loss at home against the Toronto Blue Jays.

The long reliever gave up six hits and allowed six earned runs in just 2/3 innings, and his ERA is now 6.07 on the season.

However, catcher David Ross feels that Doubront’s demotion to the bullpen has made it difficult for him to stay sharp in a limited role when he’s used to being a starting pitcher.

“Felix is trying the best he can,” Ross said. “It’s hard to be sharp in that role that he’s got. It’s a tough role and he came in and gave us all he had.”
