We’ll admit it — we hated on the San Diego Padres’ Triple-A affiliate when it changed its name last year from the rather standard “Tucson Padres” to the off-the-wall “El Paso Chihuahuas.”
But after Wednesday, we think we’ve come around on the change.

Nope, those aren’t T-shirts your grandma buys for $5 at Wal-Mart. Those are the new alternate uniforms the Chihuahuas will wear for “Bark in the Park Night” on Sunday, Aug. 3.
Fans can buy one for themselves for a good cause, as all proceeds from the postgame jersey auction will benefit the Humane Society of El Paso.
