Eastern League All-Star GameA slew of Portland Sea Dogs played in the Double-A All-Star Game, but they weren’t able to lead the Eastern League East team to victory Wednesday.

Second baseman Sean Coyle, shortstop Derrik Gibson, catcher Blake Swihart and relief pitchers Noe Ramirez and Robby Scott were selected to the team. Ramirez and Scott replaced Portland starters Henry Owens and Brian Johnson, who were unavailable for the game at Peoples Natural Gas Field in Altoona, Penn.

Gibson was the most successful Sea Dogs slugger, going 2-for-3 with one RBI and two runs. Coyle went 1-for-3 with a single and a strikeout, and Swihart went 0-for-2 with a strikeout.

Ramirez did not pitch, but Scott put out a solid inning, giving up a single and striking out two.

Thanks to a four-run fifth inning, however, the EAS West team was able to take the 5-2 victory. Right fielder Steve Moya of the Detroit Tigers affiliate Erie SeaWolves was the MVP.
