Fans of Liverpool and AS Roma packed the ballpark to see the European giants battle one another in an international friendly — the first of the 2014-15 season for both sides.

The game was tightly contested throughout, and Roma finally broke through in the 90th minute to score the game’s only goal en route to a 1-0 win.

The play on the field almost was secondary to the atmosphere at the park, though, which gave New England soccer fans a rare opportunity to see two of the world’s top clubs compete in their own backyard.

Liverpool will now travel to Chicago for a meeting with Olympiacos, and Roma will take on Manchester United in Denver as both teams open play in the International Champions Cup.
