Two years after completing an illustrious career at Boston University, goaltender Kieran Millan is hanging up his skates for good.
The 24-year-old netminder, who joined the Colorado Avalanche organization after graduating from BU, announced his retirement Friday via Twitter.

Millan burst onto the scene as a freshman in 2008-09, leading the Terriers to a national championship and earning Hockey East Rookie of the Year, Hockey East All-Tournament and NCAA All-Tournament honors in the process.
He left BU after the 2011-12 season and spent two years bouncing around between Avalanche affiliates in the Central Hockey League, East Coast Hockey League and American Hockey League before his contract expired.
Millan participated in the Avs’ preseason camp last September, drawing strong reviews from head coach Patrick Roy.
“Overall, great camp,” Roy said, via The Denver Post. “Every day (after training camp), we met and he was always one of the goalies who had the best rating. He should be very happy with the impression that he made on us, because he did a super job.”
In all, Millan appeared in 55 professional games, posting a record of 22-21-6.
