Jameis Winston Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston is OK with not receiving a paycheck.

Last season’s Heisman Trophy winner and national champion said he might even stay with the Seminoles past the 2014 season despite being eligible to enter the 2015 NFL draft. Winston said his education is something he values more than people think.

“It’s very important to me,” Winston said earlier this month, via NFL.com. “I was always raised as a student first and an athlete second. Some athletes lose that perspective. It’s about being a student-athlete, and not just getting that easy money and going to the league.”

Winston helped Florida State claim its third national title this past January, no doubt helping the school earn millions in revenue. Despite many people calling for college athletes to receive payment for their service and Winston’s theft incident in May, the quarterback said he is fine with just his full-ride scholarship.

“We’re blessed to get a free education, and that’s enough for me,” Winston said Sunday at ACC Media Day.
