John Farrell: Brock Holt Was ‘Deserving Of A Day Off’ (Video)

Everybody needs a day off from work.

Though some were skeptical of Boston Red Sox utility man Brock Holt’s absence from Wednesday’s lineup against the Toronto Blue Jays, manager John Farrell assured that he was just giving one of his best guys some much needed rest after playing in every game since May 17.

“You never like to take any player out that’s doing extremely well, and yet you feel like he’s played every inning since sometime back in May and felt like last couple of days you start to see it a little bit in his play, and he’s deserving of a day off,” Farrell said.

Holt’s day off is well planned, too, as he won’t have to strain himself facing knuckleballer R.A. Dickey.
