Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell will be managing the American League team during the 2014 MLB All-Star Game on July 15 at Target Field.

Though the rosters for the game won’t be released until later Sunday evening, Farrell spoke about his experience so far prior to Sunday afternoon’s game against the Baltimore Orioles.

“I would consider the whole process to be not only fun, but challenging in its own right,” Farrell said.

Once the fan-vote team is released, the Red Sox manager will have seven selections of his own for the roster. Farrell has reached out to longtime friend and current Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona in preparation for his first run at managing an All-Star squad. Francona has headed two All-Star teams in the past as manager of the Red Sox in 2005 and 2008.
