Iago AspasIago Aspas’ well of goals dried up in 2013-14, and he’s heading back to Spain in an effort to replenish it.

Aspas joined Spanish club Sevilla FC from Liverpool FC on Monday in a season-long loan deal.

Aspas joined Liverpool from Spain’s Celta Vigo last summer but he failed to establish himself in the Reds’ rotation during his first season at Anfield.

Aspas played 15 games for Liverpool (in all competitions) and scored one goal.

Aspas will spend the 2014-15 season in his native country.

Sevilla will compete in La Liga (Spain’s first division), the Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup) and the UEFA Europa League, which Sevilla won in 2013-14. Aspas should have a better chance of playing regular games with Sevilla in 2014-15 than he would have with Liverpool.

Aspas and Liverpool will determine his long-term future after his Sevilla loan ends.
